FREYA HORSLEY |
 |
"My work reflects the travels I make across the north of England and in the South West. Walking on moors and mountains is central to my practice, and allows me to gather information directly form the landscape. In the studio I often work from memories, a process which helps me to distil an experience and a sense of place.
The paintings often refer to parts of poems, extracts of novels, or notes I make on site, and text can be found hidden within the layers of paint. The layering process begins with highly diluted acrylic paint, puddled on to the canvas or board, followed by transparent layers of oil paint.
