Carol Lewis is a contemporary painter whose images are inspired by the landscape. Her paintings vary in style from the representational to abstract. Sometimes her images bear a close resemblance to a specific place or feature.
A sense of place is very important to her work. Carol obtains much of her inspiration from the Cumbrian and Pennine landscapes – the cragginess of the fells, the patchwork patterns of the valleys, the movements created by the rivers and the lakes and the changing hues of the seasons and weather conditions.
